Reshoot for our "Unite Against Corruption" !

Today we gathered all the actors and had breakfast at Ubi Ave nearby area. After we had our breakfast, we started our shoot at about 10.30am.

So we started with the scene whereby Sam's colleague and the policemen will enter the scene. This time round, we added an action by asking Sam's colleague to raise up her hands and point at Sam indicating that he has done something wrong. Then we cut to the scene whereby one of the policeman will say his lines: "Mr Lee, Please follow us back for investigation". We've shown a bit of Sam's colleague and another policeman in the frame to improve the realistic of the scene to make it seems convincing.

After then, we proceed to the scene whereby Sam will get caught. For this scene, we changed it by letting Sam and the two policemen to start walking into the frame then we will pan and follow their pace then they will exit the frame by exiting the door.

Next, we done the dolly shot. For this shot, we will have Sam and Sam's colleague to stand there and with the help of Emily and one of the policeman to close the door. I will be holding onto the camera to do the dolly and one of the policeman to help me push the trolley. We are doing the dolly shot manually with the trolley that is available for us to use.

Then, we proceed to part where Sam's colleague will found out that Sam is trying to corrupt money from the company. We've added two angles whereby one will show the medium shot of Sam's colleague entering the frame and pointing at Sam's computer. Another will be to focus on Sam colleague's facial expression. Sam's colleague line will be: "What are you trying to do? Are you trying to steal the company's money?"

Next, we shot the scene whereby it's at an over the shoulder of Sam's colleague angle. It will show part of the computer screen and Sam lifting up his finger and say: "Shh! Please keep it a secret."

Then, we will cut to the scene whereby Sam will give a pile of money to his colleague. This will be focusing on him taking out the money and pushing it to the colleague saying: "This is for you."

After that we will go to the scene whereby Sam will be typing onto the computer. He will be seems to be hacking into the system. Then we will focus on his expression and the computer screen showing: "The transaction has been completed."

Lastly, we shot the scene of a mysterious hand opening the door. So we've ended everything quite smoothly. Emily and I then went to my home to edit the footages and combine everything together.

We took about hours to complete everything including editing the footage, finding the suitable music and doing the tagline.

It was overall a very fun day with all the actors and Emily although it's tiring. It was a pleasure to work with Emily and we cooperated well.

1st day of filming

Today we gathered all the actors we needed in this film at about 10am and after having breakfast together, we started our filming at 11am. The location that we'll be filming will be at my dad's factory which is located at Ubi Ave 3.

So from google map, this is the location.

Emily and I started to set up the cameras and adjusting the settings accordingly. So we have 4 actors with us today, My brother; Jia Li; De Xian and Emily's Dad. My brother would be acting as the main cast, Sam. Jia Li will be acting as Sam's colleague. De Xian and Emily's Dad will be acting as the policemen. We started with the scene whereby Sam is typing on his computer and we are supposed to make it a visual effect shot, showing the transaction complete. We tried out a few shots of my brother before we success. Then we shot the scene of the policemen and colleague entering to find Sam. Initially we met problems such as to get the three actors walking in the same pace and stand in the correct position. After a few tries, we've completed the shot too. Next will be the medium shot of one of the policeman asking Sam to follow them back for further investigation. This scene was rather an easy one and we're done with it quite soon. Next, we shoot the scene of the two policemen getting Sam out of the office and follow them for further investigation. We've panned from left to right when they were walking out and pause at a point to let them exit the frame. Then we shot the scene whereby Sam's colleague will come out and discovered Sam's act. They will start to quarrel about it. For this scene, we've tried different angles using the two cameras that we've loaned to see which one is better too. For the next scene, we'll be shooting Sam stuffing a pile of money to the colleagues and asking her to keep it a secret. We've two cameras shooting one from their medium shot and one focusing only on the hands. Next, we've shoot the scene whereby we will be doing this dolly zoom out of Sam and his colleague then out of the door and the door will close, creating suspense. I think that this is the most difficult shot as we've tried a few times and different angles. For the scene basically Sam and his colleague will freeze there while Emily and her dad will help to push the door close and De Xian will be pulling the trolley that we're using for the dolly zoom out and I will be holding onto the camera. It was a success after a few tries. Lastly, we've shoot the scene whereby a mysterious hand will appear to open the door which will be cut to the policemen and colleague walking in scene. So for today, we've spent about a few hours to finish the whole filming and I find it very fun to work with the crew that we've for today. I'm really thankful for all the actors' help as they are willing to help us during the Chinese new year third day. We'll be reviewing with our lecturers to see on which to improve on. After reviewing, we'll be starting on our post-production such as combining all the scenes together, adding music and designing for the last 5 seconds tagline. That's about it for today!
